Parking Professional

You Need a Real Parking Consultant

Here is a landmine you want to avoid. Do not overpay engineering companies or all-business consultants advertising themselves as parking consultants to evaluate your parking needs. They simply do not have the background or knowledge of proper policies and procedures to do the job on anything more than a cursory level. You will end up with general recommendations and a big bill. What you need is a Real Parking Consultant. You want someone with vast experience in the parking business that has the knowledge level to give you specific problem areas in your facility as well as corrective measures.

I could give you dozens of examples, but let me give you just one. Many
parking "consultants" will take your daily paperwork, count tickets issued vs. tickets collected over a number of days, or months, and then report to you a missing ticket percentage.

A Real Parking Professional often begins by ?shopping? the location numerous times, including nights and weekends, as a customer to ensure that there isn?t a second (or additional) ticket sequence in use. By shopping the location at the beginning of the process, they also ensure that they get issued a ticket, whether manually or via ticket dispenser.  Obviously, if no ticket is issued, there will not be a missing ticket problem as ticket issued vs. tickets collected will not show a discrepancy although money did change hands between the customer and attendant/cashier, and the service was in fact provided.  They will then review the actual tickets to see what rates have been submitted for the times punched on all tickets over a number of days, as well as their own ?shopper? tickets. They will especially focus on reviewing exception, or void tickets.

In essence, even if all the paperwork is perfect, that does not necessarily mean an owner or operator is getting their due monies. Field work is required by the consultant to report properly on this issue. So rather than simply regurgitate what the parking operator or location manager has already provided you, a Real Parking Professional independently acquires information based on their own observations and investigations.

A Real Parking consultant can do more than observe and recommend, he can run your parking operations or oversee your parking operators city or company. He understands the proper policies for accounting, as well as operations and revenue control. A Real Parking Consultant knows to manage from the field as well as from the office.
