Parking Management Testing
Working in conjunction with Applied Research Corporation, my parking consulting service offers clients a parking management assessment program. Applied Research is one of the premier management assessors and executive coaching institutions in the country and works with clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Kraft General Foods, Coca-Cola Company, Pfizer, Inc.
Parking Managers chosen for this specialized service take a short test online utilizing the Insights Preference Evaluator focusing on personality theory. The origins of personality theory can be traced back to the fifth century BC, when Hippocrates identified four distinct energies exhibited by different people. The Insights System is built around the model of personality first identified by the Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. This model was published in his 1921 work “Psychological Types” and developed in subsequent writings. Jung’s work on personality and preferences has since been adopted as the seminal work in understanding personality and has been the subject of study for thousands of researchers to the present day.
Based on the several hundred thousand permutations of choices, a unique profile is then designed for the tester by a professional evaluator and provided to the tester and the employer. The test will focus on management assessment and serves two primary purposes.
1. It offers the tester a framework for self understanding and development. The parking manager is then encouraged to use the profile pro-actively. That is, identify the key areas in which you can develop and take action. Share the important aspects with friends, colleagues, and the employer. Ask for feedback from them on areas which seem particularly relevant and develop an action plan for growth personally and interpersonally.
2. It provides the employer an understanding of a (potential) manager strengths and weaknesses. The cost of selecting the wrong person for the job is potentially devastating to an organization. For example, conservative estimates put the cost of replacing a manager at three to four times that person's annual salary. Multiply those across several instances and you have a huge expense that is totally avoidable! Organizations need to deploy rigorous assessment techniques to minimize costly human resource missteps. The test utilized in the Parking Management Testing program is a pioneer in assessment technology and provides significant depth in identifying and developing the right leadership talent within an organization. It can help a client reduce selection mistakes by differentiating among qualified candidates to find the ones which best fit the needs of the business. Early recognition can build bench strength by accelerating the readiness of internal mangers to take on increasingly complex and demanding leadership roles.
